What is a kitchen display system (KDS)?
A kitchen display system — KDS — replaces the pile of paper tickets in the kitchen with a screen. Each new order shows up as a card: which table or takeaway it is for, what to cook, any special instructions, and how many minutes it has been waiting. When the food is ready, the cook taps the card and it clears.
Paper KOTs work, but they have limits. Slips get greasy, fall off the rail or land out of order. Nobody knows which order has been waiting longest, and once a slip is gone there is no record. A kitchen order display keeps every order visible, in sequence, with a live timer — so the kitchen always knows what to cook next.

Any Android device becomes your kitchen screen in minutes.
Log in on a kitchen device
Open the KhataBuddy Android app — or the web app on any screen — on a tablet or phone in the kitchen and switch it to the kitchen display view. That is the whole setup.
Orders appear as they are taken
Table 5 orders 2 Paneer Butter Masala and 4 Butter Naan. Within seconds a card for Table 5 appears on the kitchen screen with the items, notes and a timer starting from zero.
Cook and mark ready
The cook works through the cards oldest first. When Table 5’s food is on the pass, one tap on Ready clears the card and the next order moves up.

One card per order
Each KOT becomes a card showing the table number or order type, the KOT number, every item with quantity, and the notes. New rounds for the same table come in as new cards.

Cards show whether the order is for a table, a takeaway or a delivery, so the kitchen knows whether to plate or pack.
Waiting time on every order
