What is AI menu upload?
Before a restaurant can bill on any software, every dish has to exist as an item — with its name, price and category. For a typical Indian restaurant that is 80 to 200 items. Typing them one by one takes hours, and it is the main reason many owners delay switching to billing software or give up halfway.
AI menu upload removes that step. You already have a printed menu card. Take a clear photo of it — or upload the PDF your designer made — and KhataBuddy’s AI reads it like a person would: it picks out “Paneer Butter Masala … ₹260” under “Main Course” and creates that item with that price in that category. It does this for the whole menu at once.
You stay in control. The AI shows you what it found, you correct a price or rename a dish if needed, and then you save. From that moment the menu is live for billing at the counter, on the captain app and for customers using QR code ordering.

Photograph or upload your menu
Take a clear, well-lit photo of each page of your menu card (JPG or PNG), or upload the PDF. Multi-page menus are fine — add one page after another.
AI reads the items
KhataBuddy’s AI picks out every dish name, its price and the section it sits under — Starters, Main Course, Breads, Beverages and so on.
Review and correct
The items appear in a list. Check the prices, rename anything the AI got slightly wrong, and remove any line you do not sell any more.
Save and start billing
Tap Save. The whole menu is created in one go and is immediately available on every device — counter, captain phones and QR ordering.

Review before anything is saved
You see the full list the AI found and can edit any line. Nothing goes live until you tap Save, so a blurry corner of the photo cannot quietly create a wrong price.
Add half/full, sizes and add-ons
After the items are in, add variants such as Half / Full or Small / Regular / Large, and add-ons like extra cheese, manually to the dishes that need them.
Multi-page menus
Upload one page at a time. Starters on page 1, mains on page 2, drinks on page 3 — each upload adds to the same menu.
